Polly (Jean Peters) and Ray Cutler (Casey Adams) are newlyweds who are visiting the romantic location of Niagara for their honeymoon. Their cabin is located next to another couple George (Joseph Cotton) and Rose Loomis (Marilyn Monroe). George suffers from post traumatic stress order since coming back from the war and Rose is his philandering wife. Polly can't help but get drawn into their dramatic lives. Rose goes on about George's unstable behavior and George confesses his frustration over Rose's affairs. Rose is secretly plotting to kill her husband so she can run off with her lover. Polly and Ray are just pawns in her game to make her husband look unstable. Polly's plot to have her husband killed goes horribly wrong and the Cutlers are now in danger for knowing too much.
