“State of Grace” is about the homecoming of Terry Noonan (Sean Penn) to his childhood home in Hell’s Kitchen. Terry has been away for ten years and finds things are not as they once were. Terry quickly falls into cahoots with his oldest friend, Jackie Flannery (Gary Oldman) who is now directly connected with the Irish mob. The head of the mob in Hell’s Kitchen just happens to be Jackie’s brother Frankie Flannery (Ed Harris). As Terry’s home has changed over ten years time, so has old friends as Kathleen (Robin Wright), Jackie’s younger sister wishes to explore once forgotten feelings with Terry. However things become difficult as Terry’s loyalties are tested by his friends, the authorities and others who all want a piece of the Irish mob. What happens when someone just wants out and to be left alone? Terry Noonan answers that in the most climatic shoot out in cinema.
